25+ drop-in hours per week
We are open each weekday to youth and young adults age 14-24. We value community, love, respect and empowerment. When you visit the drop-in center, we ask that you treat and respect all people in the same manner that you'd like to be treated.
These dynamic and engaging classes equip youth with essential skills for exiting street life. Classes are taught by experts in the community who are trained in money management, housing, physical health, substance abuse and employment. Small class sizes forge an intimate family style learning environment that promotes personal growth. The positive community environment reinforces peer to peer learning, teaching a practical skill while building hard skills and soft skills that will increase stability and develop healthier members of society.
Youth & Young Adult Job Training
We currently offer job training specifically designed to meet the needs of youth age 18-24 who are experiencing homelessness. Cool Water Painters embraces youth entering the program with a supportive and compassionate community, empowering youth through a cohort-style learning environment where peer-to-peer motivation and program attachment stimulate individual and team development within a social enterprise business model. Cool Water Painters is a licensed, bonded, and insured business that uses residential painting as the mechanism to teach youths skills essential to success in the workplace. Staff work with program graduates to ensure a seamless transfer from the training program to gainful employment while providing mentorship and support for a period of 6-12 months following graduation.
Mentorship is an 8-week course that teaches youth life skills that help them to achieve their goals. We offer mentorship five time each year and classes are typically at capacity.
We work with our friends at Spokane Neighborhood Action Partners to ensure youth have access to housing options that meet their specific. Our SNAP partner will work one-on-one with youth to assess their current housing situation and help them move in the direction of being permanently housed.
